DPG Tagung in Köln // DPG Conference in Cologne

Nächste Woche findet (10.-14.3.) in Köln die DPG Frühjahrstagung der Fachbereiche Physik der Hadronen und Kerne und Massenspektrometrie statt. Studierende der Universität zu Köln ohne Master-, Diplom- oder Magister-Abschluss können kostenlos daran teilnehmen, einfach bei der Registrierung im Tagungsbüro die Immatrikulationsbescheinigung mitbringen/vorzeigen.

Wir sowie die jDPG tragen auch zum Tagungsprogramm bei, u.a.:

 Next week (March 10th – 14th) the DPG Spring Conference of the Hadronic and Nuclear Physics and Mass Spectrometry divisions will take place in Cologne. Students of the University of Cologne without a Master’s, Diplom or Magister degree can attend free of charge, just bring/show your certificate of enrollment when registering at the conference office.

We and the jDPG also contribute to the conference program, e.g:

  • Mo, 9 – 11 Uhr, HS III (Physik): Einführungsvorträge zu den bei der Tagung abgedeckten Bereichen der Physik (Kernphysik, Astrophysik & Massenspektrometrie)
  • Di, 17:30 – 19 Uhr, Foyer der Physik: Postersession, zu der wir ein Poster zur Zivilklausel, der Historie, dem Bezug zum Antifaschismus und der aktuellen Auseinandersetzung z.B. am DESY beitragen
  • Di, ab 21:30 am Affenfelsen: Kennenlernen beim jDPG Pub Crawl
  • Do, 21:30, HS III (Physik): Filmvorführung der Dokumentarfilm Picture a Scientist, in der es um Diskriminierung, Sexismus und Rassismus in der Wissenschaft anhand von beispielhaften Frauen, die forschen und lehren, geht
Darüber hinaus gibt es natürlich noch viele andere spannende Vorträge u.a. den öffentlichen Abendvortrag zur Entstehung chemischer Elemente im Kurt-Alder-Hörsaal (Chemie) am Mittwoch abend, das ganze Programm, etc findet ihr unter: https://koeln25.dpg-tagungen.de/
In dieser Woche wird es dadurch allerdings auch zu Beeinträchtigungen und Einschränkungen der Plätze im Foyer kommen:
  1. Cateringbereich: Der Bereich im Zentrum des Foyers (Carré) wird ab dem 07. März für den Aufbau (z. B. Elektroinstallation, Kühlschränke etc.) bis zum 14. März für das Catering genutzt.
  2. Lärmbelästigung: Obwohl die anderen Lernbereiche weiterhin zur Verfügung stehen, muss mit starken Beeinträchtigungen, insbesondere in den Kaffeepausen und der Postersessions im gesamten Foyer und Innenhof gerechnet werden.
  3. Achtung: Das CIP & die Bib hat in dieser Woche geschlossen, eventuell wird der Seminarraum Kernphysik auch für Studierende zum arbeiten usw. freigegeben

  • Mon, 9 – 11 am, lecture hall III (Physics): Introductory lectures on the areas of physics covered at the conference (nuclear physics, astrophysics & mass spectrometry).
  • Tue, 17:30 – 19 h, Foyer of Physics: Poster session, to which we will contribute a poster on the civil clause, the history, the reference to anti-fascism and the current debate, e.g. at DESY
  • Tue, from 21:30 at the Affenfelsen: Get to know each other at the jDPG Pub Crawl
  • Thu, 21:30, lecture hall III (Physics): Film screening of the documentary Picture a Scientist, which is about discrimination, sexism and racism in science following exemplary women who research and teach

During this week, however, there will also be limitations and restrictions to the spaces in the foyer:

  • Catering area: the area in the center of the foyer (Carré) will be used for set-up (e.g. electrical installation, refrigerators, etc.) from March 07th until March 14th for catering.
  • Noise pollution: Although the other learning areas will continue to be available for use, severe disturbances must be expected, especially during the coffee breaks and poster sessions in the entire foyer and inner courtyard.
  • Please note: The CIP & library is closed this week, the nuclear physics seminar room may also be open for students to work etc.
